Hiring Funnel

Behind the scenes, your application hasn’t really been sucked into a black hole, rather it’s been eliminated either by an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) or a hiring manager. This explains the lack of communication, but why does it happen so often?

Recruiters use the term “hiring funnel” to estimate the number of applications they must receive to expect to gain one successful hire. Here is an example of a hiring funnel based on an online job posting.
